JCP Overture to the 225th General Assembly Approved After three years of discernment, study, and review the JCP overture to the 225th General Assembly ("On Benefit Equity Among Mid Council Executive Staff") has been approved! After a multi-hour hearing before the Mid Council Committee of GA the committee recommended approval to the full assembly. The overture was then heard during the first day of full assembly work and was approved with 379 of 400 commissioners voting in favor. In an assembly where even votes to take dinner breaks frequently had 25 votes in opposition, our overture was about as close to an unanimous decision as any. If you would like to learn more about our overture, and see the final version as approved with comment, you can find it here: https://www.pc-biz.org/#/search/3000856 Our overture was part of a broader theme during the 225th GA on increasing equity in the work and ministry of the PC(USA), especially as related to the mission and ministry of Ruling Elders. I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve as your overture author and advocate over the past three years! Thank you to everyone who has played a role in bringing this important issue to the attention of the broader church. Rev. Chris Miller Trinity Presbyterian Church, Springfield, Missouri
